Covington is nice. Just remember, if there is stormy weather or fog they close the Causeway or convoy cars across. There is no shoulder to the road so if there's an accident it's a pain. I live in LaPlace and don't mind our drive. It's 35 minutes one way on a good day (I work in N.O.) and an hour or more on a bad day. We have alternate routes though, if I can't take the interstate I can take Airline or River Road. I'm quite sure the schools are better in Covington, however. I don't have any kids I'm just going on what I have heard.

Covington is a great area in which to live. My parents retired to that area years ago and have loved it. It's gotten a bit more suburban since Katrina but still, there are lots of trees, great schools and friendly people.

Lower Coast Algiers/English Turn. I grew up there, my father still lives there and he has a small farm.

I live in Mandeville, but the area between Covington and Folsom is very rural. Lots of houses with acreage and horse owners live up that way. I think that would be ideal for you.

Wow - seriously, your family's "environmental footprint" is deplorable. I would not be so proud. Don't you all even care at all, that you are polluting the air, worsening global warming, and supporting middle-eastern countries!!! Please tell me you drive hybrid car(s).
