In Orleans Parish, what are ballpark figures for property taxes? Say on a 1200 sq home.

I'm pretty sure its based on house value as appraised by whoever is the good ol'boy of the week.

Give us more info, particular neighborhood may actually determine rate as well.

Also depends on if they want to gentrify the area.

Safe estimate I think 10% home value but I'm sure that's not accurate.

Ha my apologies I was way way off.

New Orleans City Council votes to boost 2011 property tax rate again | NOLA.com

Seems its between 0.5% an 1% based on home value.

Sorry I don't know much about these things. I'm part of the social class that will never be able to afford owning property. I tend to ignore the info sine it doesn't and will never apply to me, except maybe through rent rates.

Wow I actually have no idea what millage rate is, why don't they just use percentage?

If there's a particular house you're interested in, you can look up the address and get the tax info on the Orleans Parish Assessor's website.
