Looking for good eats, nice restaurants, and just interesting places to check out all and around bourbon/canal sts (staying at harrahs)...

Any events during Sept 17th weekend anyone know of?

(Also a startup photographer - so any reccomendations on some good areas for shots, group photos, and great scenary/structures let me know!!!)

That's a pretty big group. Is this everyone's first time to NOLA?

Spend one night on Bourbon St....just one, check out the shops on Royal St., head to the music clubs on Frenchman St. and have some beignets at Cafe Du Monde one morning. Take the St. Charles Ave. streetcar Uptown to Carrollton (lots of restaurants in Carrollton), check out Magazine St. Magazine is a long street that's residential and commercial with lots of shops/bars/restaurants.

Lots and lots of restaurants here, depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. Most of the restaurants are small, so you might want to split up to check out a few different places.

For some good pictures, head to the riverfront near Jackson Square or take the ferry to Algiers for some good shots of the skyline. Uptown, Carrollton and the Garden District are all very photogenic with beautiful older homes and a dense canopy of oak trees.

The Piazza D'Italia is a great photo spot as are the Riverwalk, Spanish Plaza, Warehouse District and riverfront area in general. For such a large group to eat you'd probably want to call around to reserve. Ernst Cafe has a beautiful scenic upstairs area for parties, or you could probably take over the bar/restaurant area without a problem. Fine dining, it's not but they do have a New Orleans style menu at a reasonable price. Napoleon House is a great old bar/restaurant that is also available for parties your size. Google and you will see pictures and menus. Take the ferry across the river at Canal Street. It's a nice little ride, won't take too much time and you will get to see a different view of the downtown area.

I want your life. But seriously, definety do the ferry ride across to Algiers Point for a nice walk and good photo ops. Also, you should drag your whole crew to Tipatina's on Napoleon Ave one night for live music.

That's a slow weekend for festivals...only thing I'm aware of is some sort of burlesque festival...know nothing about it.

You won't get the best food if you go in a large group. Better to break up into groups of 8.

I hope you don't try to go to any restaurant with 40 people unless you call the day before.
