Coming down next week and will be in the Tulance Medical Center area. Could you give me your top 3 recommendations of good places to eat this time of year. Especially interested in NOLA fare, not nationwide available chain restaurants.

Jacques-Imo's (Uptown in the Carrolton area), Coop's Place (French Quarter), Casamento's if you like/want to try raw oysters...they are quite good this season. Casamento's is located Uptown on Magazine near Napoleon Ave

Casamento's has been there for probably 100 yrs, if not more. My mother ate there as a child in 1916. Must be doing something right to have survived so long!

Not within walking distance but not a bad cab ride, any of them really.

I second Jacques'imos. Love that place! Still learning a lot of NOLA dining myself

I do love the original Pierre Maspero's in the quarter.

We're regulars at Cooter Browns where I've heard they have good oysters - can anyone here verify?
