I guess that depends on what You like to do.I love it here in Benton after living in cities for over 40 yeras or so.I have fun everyday and I don't have to carry a .380 every time I leave My home.I have a pond to fish in everyday, plenty places to ride My Harley without waiting for someone to run a red light and run over Me. If I want to party S/B is only 30 minutes away plenty casino',a few nice bars.I wake up when I want not when some azz walks his dogs along my fence and causes My dogs go nuts, and I don't have His F------- DOG TAKEING A CRAP IN MY YARD EITHER. I could go on for days about what I like about Benton and what I hate about NO, but if you like NO great I am glad for you. That is one less person I have to deal with. Also I bet we have a lot of difference in our age.Have a nice day and Go have some fun.

I just moved from south LA. in Dec. just because I am now in north La. dosn't mean I lost My memories of NO/BR .,In the last few months.Listen to those with a little age on them and have been through the street and around the block more than twice. If You like the city great I have had enough of the crime, traffic, and even the parades.

You know what, to each his own. You said It sucked big time, I made a rebuttal that it was better than where your'e at. But to make a long post short, people move from metropolitan areas for all the reasons you stated. Whether it be for introversion or slower pace. Do you and have fun doin it. Bothers me not. And your age means nothing to me at all. You made what seemed to be a joking jab at the N.O. and made one back.

Au revoir mon amie.

1st. To be with My daughter and Her twins.

2nd.I was sick of living near LSU,To many disrespectfull kids getting out of High School and moving into My area.

3rd.The crime rate was totatally out of controll, mostly Young Black kids breaking into the houses that the disrespectfull rich kids moved into to rip off big screen TV', Lap Top,Ipods,Ipads ect.The white trash was doing Crack and stealling from everybody to support there habbit.I got ripped off for over $8,000 from someone I tried to help. The last 30 days there the home behind me was robbed 3 times,on the same street other end I caught a Young kid stealling two napsacks of Lap top ,ipod, ect even stole a gun in the deal.My neighbor across the street got robbed twice in the same thirty days.

4th I was the only owner tenant for about a 4-6 block radius ,landlords would rent a 2 br house to two people,by the time the two other significant girl or boy friends and there cars showed up the neighborhood became so over burdened and trashy because they did not give a damn and the they needed one or more dogs with no yard and that was a real mess.It just kept snow balling and people were parking in My yard there yard blocking fire Hyd. ,driveways and on and on.

5th Drugs were out of control and the cops could not keep up with it.

6th I am a 100 % DISABLED VET and the last couple years had gotten so bad that I found myself in the street at 3am with the city police trying to track down thieves and I was either going to have to shoot somebody else or get shot.
It was not that bad when I lived in NO but latley when I go visit it was getting worse as best I could tell.

7th in 5 years my property value went from 215k to 140k I currenty have
a newly renovated duplex I can't get 140k for we are at 129.9k.and it still has not sold.

8th the house on the corner one street over house' a drug dealler and his family which have been SQUATTING there for twenty years it stinks and the bushes have coverd the yard so you can not see the 3-04 broken down trucks in it.

I lived in that area as a kid and my family settled there in 1945,it was awsome to roam LSU AS a 8-13 year old back then. But i suspect a conspericy between LSU an the State downtown to take over that area,so nothing get repaired by the St or City.I guess I just out grew that area and don't much about the new BR, so We moved up here on 5 acres of land and really like it.We live 10 miles out of the town of Benton which has a POP. 3-5k.I have one mexican neighbor a couple White and a couple blacks and we have all meet and had dinner together and we take care of ea. other.Benton and the surrounding area has a neighborhood watch that consist of over 600 people. If i need to leave my house for a few day ,this group sends people to my home and they get out and walk my property and check all my doors. And the bossier City Sheriff keeps the roads near spotless even this far out with inmate labor.

I know not everywhere is as bad as what i left and not as good as where I moved buty it is what it is,and I am happy.

I'm young and unenlightened, so correct me if I'm wrong, but all your complaints have to do with Baton Rouge, do they not? And you seem unable to distinguish between a bad neighbor(hood) and a whole city being bad. Your post is just pretty ridiculous, and I mean that in the most respectful way.
