I know I've seen this inquired about before but I haven't seen many threads from 2015. I'm a senior in high school who is undecided about my career path. I live in Chicago currently and really do love it but I recently visited New Orleans and would definitely consider relocating there. From what I've heard it's one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Is there any truth to this? What are the strong industries aside from hospitality and tourism of course?

The strongest industries in the area besides hospitality are oil and gas, healthcare, chemical manufacturing, fishing, film, and trade related transportation. The strongest industries in the next few years are probably chemical manufacturing, trade related (ship captains especially), and healthcare. Also, there is a push for environmental activities related to coastal protection.

Do you see the film industry increasing in NO/ can one find legitimate work in that industry there?

The last I heard was that the film industry is up in the air right now because of the changes to tax credits. Hollywood has filed a lawsuit against the state hoping to rescind the changes made during this years legislative session.
