I am planning on going to New Orleans with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday! I have never been. But I do have a few questions. My trip is being planned from September 20th-24th. Here were my questions:

1. What is the weather like for that time of the year? Still too hot? Just right?
2. Is this still considered hurricane season? Is there a high possiblity that a hurricane might ruinmy plans?
3. How is the city at this time? Me an my friends want to have FUN and party. I know Chicago slows down in the winter, does this happen in NOLA?

Still gonna be a lil hot, which is a good thing . It will be towards the waining end of Hurricane season. The city is still in full swing as usual. Still lots to do, plenty of fun and partying to be had. Be sure to try more than just touristy things as far as sights and foods. Have fun!

How hot? Upper 80's I can deal with. Lower 90's though wouldn't be ideal. For that then I would just go to Miami.

You'll always find stuff to do in the night around the French Quarter, but do be wary with Bourbon St. since it's a heavy tourist trap and quite overrated. Being 21+ is a huge plus since you get more for your buck and basically have no restrictions.

And New Orleans has simply too much to be limited to its nightlife appeal. The city has plenty of historic places, pretty good music, and some damn good restaurants. Don't leave town without getting a few beignets from Cafe du Monde over on Decatur St. near the river.

80's are fine and lower 90's I can handle as long as that's as high as it can possible get.

Glacier I definitely will check historic places and other places that are not "touristy". I actually plan to spend four days there so i can get a good feel of the city. Thanks for the advice!

If anyone has any other suggestions let me know!

It'll still be hot in New Orleans. It doesn't really cool down until mid to late October and the low 90's with high humidity is very possible. Tourism starts to pick up around that time, but hurricanes are still a possiblity. Hurricane season doesn't end until November 30th.

Dont get too worried. The average high for that time ranges from 85-87 (according to wether.com) but of course anything is possible. A hurricane is unlikely to be a threat and there seems to always be a good amount of tourists in the French Quarter not matter what time of year it is.
