Well in the future Houston might be just under 10m metro. So you mean if New Orleans ever gets to around 6m? Most of the growth will probably be on the WB and northshore.

Yes, Miss Annie said in the Baton Rouge forum that the port of Houston would get most of the cargo tonnage from the expansion of the Panama Canal. Why in the world is no one from LA. aggressively pursuing that business .Now you guys know why I emphasize "Slow" to the draw. The guys who asked the pretty girl to dance gets the prize.

Actually, there have been many articles over the past 4 years or so about how the Port of New Orleans is spending a lot of money on improvements to get some of that cargo.

State officials are working hard to get that business, but "Please and Thank you's" don't make companies give you business. If it's cheaper for them to ship to Houston, then they will.

P.S.: I am a man.

It seems like it is slowly coming back. There are the plans for a hospital, the redevelopment of the old Six Flags, redeveloping the old Lake Forest Plaza Mall, and I think some other plans for a few new stores. Plus there are still some decent neighborhoods out there. It will definitely be a while before the East is seen as a more desirable area. The crime problem in parts needs to be fixed and it would also help if the lower income population would stop growing and if the middle income communities would grow more. But at least it is not all doom and gloom out there and the area seems to be making progress.

Build more flats, low and high rises housing along Tulane. Tulane -61 is a eyesore in Jefferson Parish as well so something should be done there as well
