Would love a walkable area of the city. Looking to buy a move-in-ready home with 3 or 4 bedrooms around $400k. We are aware that we will probably have to pay for school. Thanks.

I just looked through a few property listings, trying to find areas in between St Charles and magazine, Audubon Park and Jackson Ave. That's generally considered the best area of the city, and is walkable. You'll probably be looking at something like this:

Yes, you should definitely look here first as it is the most walkable. Most of the buisnesses will be on Magazine St, Prytania St. and Tchoupitoulas. However, if you can't find anything there, your boundaries can be expanded a little. You can also look at the area between Magazine and the river from Wisner park up to Audubon Park. A couple of blocks on the Lake/North side ot St. Charles is nice and walkable between Napolean and Jefferson. Black Pearl is between St. Charles and the river on the other side of Audubon Park. It's a safe area that will give you access to Maple St. and all the buisnesses in Carrollton.
