Just wondering with the economy being like it is and everyone, including teachers, are having a difficult time finding jobs, are there any teaching jobs available in New Orleans. I have 10 years teaching experience, a BS in Early Childhood and an MS in Leadership. I am certified in the state of Alabama K-3rd and in the state of Georgia K-5th. Should I continue my search in NO or look elsewhere? Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated and needed.

Well, our economy is stronger than many places, and as the population increases, more schools will open and more teachers will be needed. Unfortunately, it may not be so easy to break into those positions. You see, this city ever since Katrina has been blessed with many, many teachers from all over who want to better things. I am not sure how great the demand is for teachers at this point, but the city is not facing things like hiring freezes and whatnot like many more economically depressed places across the country may be. So I would check it out, it's worth trying.

TeachNOLA is the organization to contact, they work with most of the schools, which unfortunately are very de-centralized. I am used to dealing with one school board, but here there are all kinds of different charter schools that fall under different jurisdictions.
