We're planning a vacation trip to NOLA and are looking to possibly stay in a private rental near St. Peter Claver church. How concerned should we be about safety? We'd be three women (adult, teen, elementary school) and one adult male. We'd probably be parking on the street also in a not-especially-fancy-but-hardly-a-wreck car.

My wife and I used to live in Chicago, including some arguably questionable neighborhoods (me - 1 year at Marine/ Argyle ca. 1997 when it wasn't quite so fancy; her - a couple of years near Howard/ Damen). So we're pretty city-smart, and would be doing things like taking cabs back at night, not walking around clutching maps in one hand and $100 bills in the other, etc.

Thanks!

Treme nowadays is a little bit shady in my opinion. This area in particular is located in the 6th ward west of I-10, and is pretty high in crime. I would recommend closer to Esplanade preferably on the other side of I-10, much safer.
