Returning to Louisiana in January. I was raised on the north shore, so i don't know much about the neighborhoods. I'm a single white female, mid 20s, and a culinary school graduate.
Any suggestions on where i could live for 700/mth tops that is safe and not in the Parish or westbank?
Thanks!!
I'm super excited to come home after the storm

I would look around the University area. Plenty of college students on tight budgets.

Thanks, that was my first idea. Apparently these days they think Law School students can afford $1100 studios, because that's pretty much all I'm finding.
I'm nervous about getting a job, I've already started sending out letters to restaurants in hopes someone will let me stage once I get in town.

I am also in the same situation as the poster. However, I was offered a job. Is 55k a good salary to make it in New Orleans? I hold an MBA and I am in the IT field. I do not have many years of experience. This is my first full time opportunity.

55k is above the median family income (family of four). You should be able to do very well here on that salary.

Try to find somewhere, uptown, as, in my opinion, it is the safest area of the city. Especially if you are a single, young, female, you are going to need somewhere safe. I am sure you can find something in your price range!

Thanks, I will take that into consideration.
I was still debating what I should do.
