The Loyola streetcar will be up an running before Super Bowl Sunday. Here is the most current RTA service plan for this new line and some changes to the other Streetcar lines. I personally like that it doesn't just dead end at Canal St. and it provides stops for riders along the edge of the French Quarter.

Is this line still on schedule to open before the Super Bowl? Glad to see New Orleans expanding its transit, even if it is a very small line.

Just out of curiosity, are the streetcars commonly used by those who live in New Orleans and actually functional parts of the city's fabric or is their purpose much more tourism-oriented? Nothing wrong with either or both, but I am curious about it.

They are very much used by local residents. The Canal line is almost exclusively locals; the St. Charles line attracts a lot of tourists but also a lot of commuters. The short French Quarter line is mostly for tourists and is the least traveled of the current routes.
