How was New Orleans last weekend? I know having both events on the same weekend was crazy. I'm coming back down this weekend. I was jealous last Saturday night that I wasn't in New Orleans because I know the city was off the hook. I'm not going to lie but we laughed at the lighting problem at the Super Bowl being a Falcons fan but I know the city made a lot of money and everyone enjoyed themselves

Nope, the debutante balls and parties start in Jan and culminate at Mardi Gras. The parades start 12 days before Ash Wednesday, on that Friday. There may be some oddball, small parades earlier like Boy Scouts in a neighborhood, etc

Two of the bigger parades, Endymion and Bacchus, roll this weekend. I've always enjoyed those. Mid-City is a good one, too.
2013 Mardi Gras Parade Schedule
Rex and Zulu roll on Mardi Gras Day - Fat Tuesday.
Enjoy!!!

I will be in New Orleans for 12 hours this Saturday. Besides the normal stuff what can I do to kill time? Last time I rode the streetcar and went on a swamp tour. Thanks

Ugh...ENDYMION! Hello!

You're only getting in during the biggest Mardi Gras Parade of the year. Catch a cab to Mid-City somewhere near Carrollton Ave. and Canal St. The whole neighborhood will be in full party mode.

Anything else outside of Mardi Gras events?

Carnival is going on, Mardi Gras is one day. Carnival parades occur all during Carnival, Mardi Gras parades occur only on Mardi Gras. Next year Mardi Gras is March 4th. So Carnival will be just under 2 months long.

Mardi Gras Day is saying Fat Tuesday Day. Like ATM machine. It's redundant and ignorant.
