I drive at this intersection a lot, and honestly there is no need for a light here. Almost always, there are very few to no cars driving down Calhoun street and tons of cars driving down St. Charles. So, for me driving down St. Charles, it is very frustrating to have to stop at this light and have no cars going the other way. Why can't they have a stop sign for the Calhoun street drivers like they do at almost every other St. Charles intersection around this area (with the exception of State and Nashville which actually have cars driving the other way)?

Does anyone else agree?

I don't have an issue with having a light there, but I don't think it needs to be as long as it is. Maybe give Calhoun 30 seconds and St. Charles 60 seconds. Having the ability to adjust the light if there are big events at Loyola would be a good idea.

Traffic lights aren't just for cars. This is the only place that pedestrians can cross from Tulane/Loyola to Audubon Park and vice-versa without having to dodge impatient motorists. A young, able bodied person might be able to cross, but someone who is elderly or disabled is much better off with crossing with traffic signal.

I don't think removing that light would have much effect on traffic on that part of St. Charles anyway (especially going downtown). State and Nashville both have lights and traffic is still pretty thick there.

I drive through that intersection 3-4 times a week, going down Calhoun. There are usually at least 3-4 cars waiting to cross. There's also a lot of traffic at the end of Holy Name's school day.
