Hi all
Am visiting New Orleans this weekend and have reservations for Baymont Inn and Suites Marrero. Is this a safe place to stay? We're driving in so will have a car.

Thanks for any advice given.
Rose

Marrero is unsafe. I wouldn't stay there.

Where exactly is the hotel? All parts of marrero aren't unsafe! Man, negativity is prevalent in this forum. Why was the reason you picked this particular hotel?

Thanks for responding.
I chose it because it is by the freeway and because of the price.
The hotel is at 6589 Westbank Expressway, Marrero.

I wouldn't stay on the westbank, but if I had to, I'd look at a holiday inn or something in that league.

When I saw Baymont Inn + Marrero, I thought WARNING WARNING DANGER DANGER EJECT EJECT EJECT.

Well, I mapped it and it is kind of a ways from downtown. The area itself is safe especially being right there along the expressway. Only real sketchy parts of Marrero are further south closer to Lapalco. But, I think you'd do better off picking something slightly closer to the city. If the staying rate of this hotel is, say, 59.99 (just for example), you would probably do better getting something that is 65.99 closer to the city. It would balance out with difference of gas.

If you're planning on driving in, look at some places in Metairie. It is a nicer suburban area with much more ammenities close by. Plus, you won't have to deal with the river bridge (which can be a major PITA during rush hours). Marrero isn't a horrible idea, but Metairie would be better. There are comparable hotels along I-10.

Im guessing the OP chose Marrero because I know that the hotels in Metarie tend to be expensive. But, I agree with crossing the CCC will be a problem if there is an accident or something because that is the only way to get to N.O from Marrero. Unless they want to deal with the HPL, which could be much worse.

Thanks Chappy, Leroy and RB
We'll try Metarie if we need to leave Marrero.
