Planning a trip to New Orleans with my wife and two small kids this summer. What are some attractions around the city for a family besides the zoo and aquarium.

Take a ride uptown on the streetcar, go to city park to see all of the 200-300 year old oaks, go on a swamp tour; there are many options! What time in the summer are you coming? There are many festivals going on from April to August, so knowing your specific travel date will help you find out if there is something special going on.

Don't forget Audobon Park, the Insectarium, Louisiana Children's Museum, National World War II Museum which just underwent millions in renovation and new exhibits.

Most of the hotels are downtown or Lower Garden District. If you want to stay up by Tulane/Carrollton/Audubon, then you'll have to go the B&B route.

Metro new orleans is very small. Many hotels in CBD with a short taxi ride or street car up town to the zoo will be just fine.
