It is. Many lost opportunities to the self-entitled and many more to come.

I agree that we should diversify the whole economic profile of the city but if that means bending over backwards for soulless corporate development I'm not down. There's enough space downtown for a ton of big company's offices, so I dont really think we got to do any big developments or building.
And it's not like office buildings I'm really worried about, it's things like huge malls filled with nation wide companies, or huge foreign grocery stores like whole foods. No big bogus parking lots

Historically I'd say the city New Orleans is most similar to is Mobile.

Economically New Orleans is in the same tier as virginia beach, raleigh, las vegas, Austin, Sacramento, Indianapolis, Providence, Hartford, Richmond, Memphis, Nashville and any other metro in between 1 and 2 million

There are few places culturally similar to New Orleans. That's one thing that makes New Orleans what it is - it is unique. The closest places I can think of are Charleston and Savannah, but both of them come up very short. New Orleans is unique and its great to have cities like that in which nothing else compares.

So True and this is one of the main reason we are not where we should be. Sometimes it just seems like we got to many OLD SCHOOL THINKERS and not enough NEW SCHOOL THINKERS to go along with them. I'm not dissing OLD SCHOOL but just like anything u need a BALANCE. Ya feel me!!

Not a Fortune 500 HQ. You wouldn't want a company like IBM, GE, or CBI to build a 40-50 story tower in the CBD?
Canal Place and Riverwalk have been full of national retailers. Costco is being built on Carrolton. New Orleans doesn't allow the typical parking lot for large stores. You should know this.

Don't let Annie bother you. He'll cool his jets eventually. He just likes to make sure everyone is "on the same team"
