Granted, I have only been searching for three weeks, but I have applied to a large number of places and many different positions and still no job. I have hotel experience, office/admin, bartending, retail sales, and customer service experience.

I have interviewed with a few places, and although they seemed promising, I haven't heard back from anyone yet. I did hear back from two hotels to say thanks, but no thanks.

I have been using my few connections here to network for a job, also, but to no avail yet.

If I cannot find a job by the middle of August, I will need to move back home because I will have used all my savings for rent and bills.

I did A LOT of research before moving here, and it seems like it still wasn't enough.

Are there any places hiring where I can make enough to pay rent and bills (at least $11/hour)?

Any help would be appreciated.

You have applied at bars? I imagine the hundreds of them are always hiring. I can't see someone not being able to find a job in a hotel or bar in New Orleans.

Huh? I have heard that Louisiana is an entrepreneur hotbed! The states fiscal is in the BLACK and there are plenty of jobs, especially in surrounding areas.

My husband and I moved here in June. He was hired on the spot as a line cook and also works as a florr manager at a fairly well-known cafe near Tulane. It took me two weeks to find my clerical job at a law office and I had one other interview that I didn't get the job.

I am guessing that if you are using Craigslist, you're sending your resume to a bunch of bogus listings. I found a ton of the admin/medical/legal jobs were just trying to scam my email address. Have you tried a temp agency?

Yeah, don't use craigslist. Too hard to seperate the scams, spam, from the real ads.....I looked on Indeed.com and found some jobs that I've applied for...I'm not moving until I get a job.
