We are a family of 5 seeking something interesting/unique to do for a few hours (Noon-3pm) in the Metairie or Kenner area in the afternoon on Friday. Are there any neat retail areas or attractions? We don´t want to spend a bunch of money, just see some sights. Is there anything to Kenner riverwalk?

Love to have any suggestions!

Lafreniere is Metairie's best park. It's huge and definitely worth checking out. Maybe do a picnic or something?

There are 3 malls: Lakeside, Esplanade and Clearview. Lakeside is the the best of the three.

Kenner's Rivertown is really just a few quaint blocks where Williams Blvd hits the river. There's a little park, and Italian restaurant and not much else. A promenade on top of the levee right there allows you to see the river if you're interested.

Kenner's laketown is a park right on the lakefront where Williams Blvd hits the lake. There's a casino out there as well as some shelters, a fishing pier and a jungle gym.

You could do things like Laser Tag, Bowling, Roller skating rink, indoor inflatable playground, golfing, etc., but many of those things you can probably do yourself in your own city. But if you were staying later than 3 pm, then you could have gone to the Ocktoberfest at Rivertown. There are a lot of good restaurants you could eat at. There is a long trail along the levee of the Mississippi River that you can walk or bike along. You can always sight see along Lake Ponchartrain. If you are willing to go outside of Metairie and Kenner, then you could visit NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale for go-carts, Plantations up the Mississippi River, and some state/national parks. Of course New Orleans is only about 15 minutes away too.
