My family and I have recently moved to Kenner from NC into assigned temporary housing while we look at communities to buy a home. My husband will be working in Hahnville and we are looking for a location that puts him within a 30 minute commute, has decent public or private elementary schools (we do not anticipate being here any longer than five years) and has amenities such as shopping, dining, activities for the family. I visited Destrehan, Luling and St. Rose and must admit I felt as if they were small and confining. I could be wrong however in the lifestyle of these cities and would love to hear feedback. Would any other locations be appropriate for our needs? We do like it here in Kenner close to the lake and would be open to other suggestions. If Jefferson Parish is an option, how difficult is it getting into the charter/magnet/private schools? Thank you for your help!
