DAT MONEY IS IN NEW ORLEANS. Today Mitch Landrieu announced the city will expand it's International Airport spending $826M to make it competitive with Atlanta's airport which is the largest in this region. It will be done by 2018, which is the city's 300th Anniversary in which the city has already made negotiations to get the Superbowl and the NBA All-Star Game back here the same year. More hotels will surround the new airport along with a runway straight from Baton Rouge to the airport. With hospitals going up left and right, new interstate improvements, the re-opening of the Riverwalk Mall with 90 more stores in it including the Neimen Marcus central hub and others, the new mall coming to New Orleans East will give the city 7 malls. The new hospital along the Tulane strip will be the largest in the state. The airport will employ 13,000 new people. The hospital alone will employ 10,000. Right now we are #1 in America for Medical Jobs and in the Forbes Top 5 Cities for Economic Growth. In 2012 we were the Forbes Fastest Growing City in America with 17,000 new residents in one year. In the Top 25 Travel Cities in the WORLD and the #1 Destination in America according to Travel & Leisure World Report.

It won't be competitive with Atlanta, which is the worlds busiest. And are you sure the airport will employ 13,000 new people?

But everything else... Who Dat!

It will rival plenty of airports but the one in Atlanta is just a monster, that thing has 200 gates....I saw the footprint of the newly proposed Airport, its VERY NICE, but its smaller than the one we have now....BUT it will have the ability to expand to 43 gates.... ..All in all, this is great news for the region....lets get to pile driving!

Initially the footprint will be smaller with 30 gates but it will be built to where its easily can be expanded to 43 gates which would be bigger than the current Airport which has a total of 38 gates. Anyway, just like you all I'm so excited to see the city is really moving in the right direction with a lot of things. All this POTENTIAL we've been talking about New Orleans has for many years is really starting to blossom. Something s telling me this is just a TIP of the iceberg. Let's Get it NOLA !!
