Hey everyone, new member here. Trying to get information about my stay in New Orleans.

Heading there from Chicago in April for the big Wrestlemania event happening. Going to be staying at the Quality inn on 8400 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans with 4 other friend's. . My concern is the bad reviews the area is getting. Is it really bad over there? The worst part of New Orleans? Ive heard mixed things about the part we're staying at. Some say it's bad, others say it's improved to what it was. So I'm just looking for some help with the area if it's gang related or a high crime rate that we should be concerned with. So and so. All help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

New Orleans East is not a good place to be. I don't know how that specific block is but you should get closer downtown, where the fun is.

Yeah, a lot of hotels downtown are fully booked because so many people are attending. May just switch hotels closer to the airport and just drive downtown when needed. Not really hearing anything positive. Thanks.

How about Keener, Louisiana ? Located right by the airport. Safe for the most part or is that bad too?

I grew up a short distance from there and my mother and brother still live near there. That definitely is NOT the worst part of NO and not all of NO East is bad, but that part of Crowder Blvd does see a lot of traffic and people, mainly because of the gas station right there on the corner of the service road and Crowder and the daiquiri shop further down. With that being said, I never have had or do have issues around there and my brother regularly walks to work past that strip with no issues. I also haven't heard or seen any gang related activity in that area. That area of the East, actually a good portion of the East, still hasn't recovered fully from Katrina, so you'll see more dilapidated buildings and homes, overgrown weeds/grass, and lack of businesses compared to elsewhere in the NO metro area. Things are getting better, but it's a slow process. In my honest opinion, I don't think you would have an issue around there, but at the same time, I don't think that particular area of the East would be a good welcoming for a tourist who hasn't been to NO before. The hotels on Bullard near 1-10 would be a safer choice if you want to stay in the East.
