Now man I have to keep it 100 with you. You won't find a lot of good Tex-Mex here...and its even kinda hard to find just good Mexican food period. There are some spots, but not a whole lot.

But like Neworleansisprettygood said, don't worry about food AT ALL. We got plenty that you'll love.

Oh and you'll find plenty Blue Bell...though I think New Orleans Ice Cream Co(which is also sold in stores) might win you over

Oh yeah I know New Orleans has an endless amount of great food but every now and then one gets a craving for some home state treats LOL. Ive never had Houston style Mex food, so I can't speak on that. Tex Mex is more of an Austin & San Antonio specialty.

Ive heard of New Orleans Ice Cream Co and I'm excited to try it. What barbecue places would you all personally suggest?

My favorite is the Joint in Bywater. A lot of people have been raving about a new place called McClure's Uptown, but I haven't tried it yet. I also like Voodoo, a small local chain.
