Out of curiosity I thought it would be interesting to check out some of New Orleans ghettos. I was there today but didnt have alot of time to look around. i noticed there was a big Lowes on Florida St I think, looks like some areas has seen some gentrification. I remember hearing about the rough projects in the 90's. Have some areas gotten worse?

Which streets would you go down if you were to check out the worst neighborhoods to see some blight and interesting street activity?

Sounds to me like you have a death wish. Seriously.

"Checking out" the ghettos must be sport for rich people who wish to live on the wild side for a few minutes from the safety of their vehicle. SMDH. Very sad. Thank goodness most of us don't view touring poverty and drug-stricken areas as entertainment. Oh and good luck finding those projects you long to see.

There are numerous YouTube videos making fun of this type of thing but posting a link would definitely get me a few days in "time out".

Dont cry about it, and I dont know anything about a sport for rich people, I dont even have a job, im just from a small western town that dosent have any big cities around or urban enviroment. So suck it up, different strokes for different folks, some people like to see big city ghettos and wealthy areas, areas that us small town folks see in movies and want to see in person.

Central City is generally the area with abject poverty. New Orleans East has the worst crime and lots of rundown homes and apartments that never were fixed up.

Gentilly still has some rough areas. The Lower 9th Ward has some rough areas and also gentrified areas (Make It Right).

Check those out!

Off the top of my head: 13th Ward, Valence & Magnolia St. This is the block that rapper B.G. comes from and mentions in his songs frequently. Uptown ghetto at it's finest, but close to rich areas. 7th Ward is pretty hardcore as well.

St. Claude neighborhood. Take a stroll along N. Robertson and see how it goes. Wear nice shoes too to attract attention!
