Hi, I'm a student. so the budget for housing is really limited. I saw the Harmony Oaks Apartments' website, seems pretty good. But I also know that it's one of the housing projects. Worried about safety problem.
And as a student, I need some place quiet, also want to know that. Thanks for anyone who know something about this apartment!

I would avoid that area, the neighborhood is not considered safe.

Harmony Oaks was built where the projects used to be. It's a mixed income development with 30% market rate and the rest is subsidised housing. The development looks nice, but the surrounding neighborhood is not. I would avoid this one.

I suggest you find a roommate and look further uptown and closer to campus.

The only safe, well-managed, mixed income community is Columbia Parc in Gentilly. The others, including Harmony Oaks, are simply overrun by Section 8 tenants who are quickly recreating the project environment of their former homes.

They look nice from the outside, but the neighborhood is not safe. Certainly not for a student.

If you are dead set on a complex type arrangement, I would suggest The Saulet apartments.
