Yeah I wouldn't buy a season pass in that case.

I'm not sure how it failed, other than location. There's no park between Houston and Atlanta.

I would say that location was to blame...this was when the East first began to really decline economically

There's no park in Houston. It closed right after Jazzland did. Six Flags and the Gulf Coast just don't like each other, apparently.

I think one of those outdoor OUTLET malls would do very well there. I love the one outside Palm Springs, CA. It's beautiful and is patronized by both locals and visitors, and I think one there would be, too.

I agree. New Orleans really doesn't have a great shopping mall like Sawgrass Mills in So Fla., or the Riverchase Galleria in Birmingham. If we had that with some entertainment added (restaurants and bars), I think it would do well. Maybe advertise in the hotels in the quarter and run a shuttle back and forth. It would probably still be hard to drag the tourists out of the quarter.

Especially since most tourists don't come to the city to shop. I say build something that will cater to people who live in the area.

You could build something that caters to both. Most people that go to Panama City Beach go for the beach, but Pier Park is always packed. I use that as an example because it's a place to shop but it's also a place for entertainment. They have lots of restaurants and bars, a movie theater, and carnival type rides for the kids.

Also, you could add some Louisiana flavor. Maybe a big lagoon in the middle with some alligators in it. Just put up a high fence so the drunk tourists don't fall in.

I would go! The stores would be the typical stores that are in all outlet malls, but should have some Louisiana flare to the site (as one poster mentioned). It should be a good alternative for the locals, really. I know you have a mall or two there, and lots of great boutiques and unique shops. But an outlet is yet another option.
