Hey everyone,
I'm a single guy and I've never been to Mardi Gras, but I have been to other festivals like Burning Man.

If I can make it down to Mardi Gras this year from the 12th to the 16th of February, where would I go for the wildest parties and action? I assume a hotel room this time of year would be next to impossible. I could bring my small camper van (class B RV) but I heard horror stories about parking.

Any thoughts on How I can enjoy Mardi Gras?

I really want to go to Mardi Gras this year its on my bucket list, I went to New Orleans a few years back for a Sugar Bowl and the French Quarter was wild as heck on New Year's Eve, I can't imagine how crazy Mardi Gras gets. I really loved visiting New Orleans and it ranked up there with Miami Beach, NYC and Vegas as my favorite cities to visit. I want to go but I don't have a place to stay, the hotels get booked a year in at advance. I need some advice on this matter as well.

If you want a nice place your best bet is to wait until next year and book now. Check all of the obvious places (hotels.com, expedia, bookit) and you might get lucky. Otherwise you might find something in the suburbs.

Would it be impossible to park my small RV close to the French quarter? Assuming that is where the action is.

There is a rv park in the area but it's probably already booked by now. I can't think of the name of it. It's right by the cemetery. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Since this thread is called Mardi Gras on the wild side, if you're wild enough, drive your car down and sleep in it. I did it several times in my early 20s. Depends on how bad you want to come this year.

If you don't want to risk the headache and potential security issues of sleeping in a camper van in New Orleans, I'd suggest trying Airbnb.

I sleep in my camper van in many different places, what issues might I have in New Orleans?

Depending on where you park, I don't think you would have security issues. I think the hardest thing would be finding a place to park it during Mardi Gras.

Look for turnaround party buses that are going from your city
