Car dealerships, furniture stores, fast food, increasingly diverse (more immigrants).

Political wise is not as liberal as New Orleans but not as conservative as Northshore.

National chain stores that we don't have in the city proper.....ex...target, mercedes dealership, range rover dealership, jaguar....

Sprawl. Chain stores. The Causeway. Traffic.

Also more expensive, although this has been changing drastically the last few years, with so many people moving to the city.

As an outsider, I don't have an opinion one way or the other about Metairie. I'd imagine it's safer than New Orleans, but without nearly as much to do.

I, too, instantly think of Vets Mem Blvd; looks like anywhere, USA.

Next (almost instantly) I think of House of Lee...our family used to drive out there some Sundays when we were kids...huge place and famous for being the most un-chinese Chinese restaurant.
