If the statues would be removed, I wonder what next people would be crying about.

In short, I don't think they will ever be happy!

How do we get them to stop talking about inner city jobs and education, incarceration rates, militarized police forces killing young black men, wealth inequality..

"It's the statues and street names that you need to focus on. Trust us. We know what's best for you. We're on your side... Don't look over here, look over there."

Spend years fighting to tear down the statues. When they finally tear them down feel a sense of victory....Then look around at your neighborhoods and schools. The joke's on you. They never actually cared about the statues.

I don't think that has gotten anyone to stop talking about those things. At least not that I've seen.

John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park

Reconciliation Park is the long-awaited result of the 2001 Oklahoma Commission to Study the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921. It memorializes the Tulsa Race Riot, called the worst civic disturbance in American history. The Park also tells the story of African Americans’ role in building Oklahoma and thus begins the long-delayed rendering of the full account of Oklahoma’s history.

Too bad it always seems to be a zero sum game anymore. Can't have both, one must replace the other.

Well apparently the city doesn't have enough money to take down the statues. The bids came in over $600k and they had budgeted $170k.
