Does anyone think with the record murders we are having this year that the hipsters are going to get scared off and leave?

These aren't record numbers by any stretch. Not even close.

That said, maybe. But I don't think it's gonna put a whole lot of long term strain on business growth in the city. Criminals aren't stealing chemicals and natural gas.

I doubt they're too affected to be honest. If anything they're more likely to think it makes the city "cooler"somehow.

Another sobering fact about the soaring crime rate:

I think every hipster is well-aware of a given city's crime stats. Your post implies some obliviousness and sudden realization, when generally hipsters are a well-informed intelligent lot. There are very few safe cities in the u.s., and hipsters are generally urban-focused.

So apparently there is at least one advantage of high crime rates: it drives away the hipsters.

I recently had an old friend get murdered in NOLA, its bad not something I ever thought I'd go through. The poverty and lack of change are the things I blame.
