If I see a cop I purposely will walk by the cop or slow down near him so the thug passes the cop at the same time as me.

I don't care if they think I'm racist or whatever. I'm going to protect myself. If you look thuggish I'm getting out of the way.

I walk with confidence and a steady gait. Somehow I think people know to never mess with me.

Never had any issues.

Yep, and my sister who lives outside of new York got a vary uneasy feeling in about the same area while down here on a convention, so much so that she mentioned it to me in a way that it was rather disturbing, she spent the rest of her convention at the convention and visiting family, forgoing exploring around the city with coworkers here on the convention. Her job she picks 2 conventions a year to attend, never made it back to another convention in New Orleans. By the way from what I heard by the time the cops got there a few hour later they were already at the hospital. Two are in custody and they apparently know who the other 2 are. It will be interesting to see if/how much time they get. Without all this publicity seriously doubt a police report would have ever been made, just the way it is in the big sleazy.

It's an important story that hadn't been posted yet, so I posted it.

As AnnaGWS said earlier on this thread: "Thanks to the OP for posting this story. My family and I are visiting soon (staying in the French Quarter), and this serves as a reminder to be always be aware of your surroundings."

In fact, most of the posters on this thread feel that it's a relevant news story for the New Orleans board.

This ^ and your small post count screamed troll to me. Apologies.

Mitch can't control the crime problem and Sidney Torres can't control the crime problem. This one rests squarely on Sidney though. He guaranteed fast responses to crimes with his FQ Task Force.

Mitch doesn't care about crime. He only cares about his legacy, developing another "Moon Walk" which I heard will be named "Mitch Landrieu Memorial Park". He had to one-up his dad.

Love New Orleans but can't go anymore due to crime. These are just some of the incidents that have kept me away.

French Quarter mourns bartender murdered in armed robbery attempt | NOLA.com

Knew her.

4 separate New Orleans rapes reported Monday, including 11-year-old victim | NOLA.com

Know one of the victims here.

Former federal worker gets 50 years in rape, child porn case | News | theadvocate.com

This guy worked with a colleague of mine.

Its not like these things don't happen other places, but why put yourself in harm's way?

You put yourself in harm's way every time you get into a vehicle. I'm sure the probability of being a victim is around the same as getting struck by lightning or winning the lottery.

If your white, don't do drugs and stay out of New Orleans at night maybe so, the sad truth is the black on black crime is off the hook in the city, i'm sure every black person I know would laugh at your statement, in fact I'll do a random sample between blacks and whites on your statement, just people that live in new Orleans, Algiers, new Orleans east, 9th ward, gentily, bywater and see if any agree, funny stuff.

Winnin the lottery or hit by lightning, course have been in a few bad storms in the gulf over the years, lol. Been in a few bad neighborhoods in the city and no problems, course even a crack head can figure that if you jump certain people you may pay with your life, no joke.

What about white on white crime? There are a ton of meth heads in Livingston and St. Bernard, tons of rapists and child molesters too. Difference is no one calls it white on white crime because crimes are committed to the same race because of proximity and America is still a very segregated nation. New Orleans is the exception but is still segregated. My statement doesn't change depending on people's opinions, my statement is a matter of statistics.
If black on black crime is the problem, you should be fine walking down Franklin at midnight.

That's a bit of a stretch.

In a typical year, USA has 16,000 murders, but only 30 lightning strike deaths.

I hope these guys recover quickly but to be honest, they were there for the Unitarian Universalist convention and that is an extreme left-wing organization. Hopefully now they will learn to respect the police and the work that they do vs always siding with BLM and urban radicals.
