Why I left New Orleans and have serious hesitation recommending tourists visit The Big Easy even though there are some great things there also.

To raise awareness of the threats in New Orleans? What do you want to do, ignore it?

This is a brutal crime is a high traffic area, with cops everywhere.

The good people need to take back the cities. Those criminals are the ones who need to be getting beaten in the streets.

Keep your head on a swivel, and carry a gun. That's all you can do.

It's a good thing this forum has a gate-keeper like you. We can't have folks just waltzing willy-nilly into other people's personal forums and posting legitimate, relevant information.

Lots of tourists visit the French Quarter, and walk around at night. This video is just a reminder of how some criminals operate in the area, what to look out for, and to be aware of your surroundings (as "Mississippi Alabama Line" said above, "Keep your head on a swivel").

And..

"Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111."

Thanks to the OP for posting this story. My family and I are visiting soon (staying in the French Quarter), and this serves as a reminder to be always be aware of your surroundings.
