DXC Technology is a win 'we will celebrate for a long time to come': Gov. Edwards | NOLA.com

Quote:
DXC Technology, a Virginia company with 170,000 employees worldwide, will create a "digital transformation center" -- hiring 2,000 workers over the next seven years through 2024 -- located in the Central Business District.
This is good news for economic development on the tech front. I hope this brings in more companies and is a catalyst for continued economic growth for the city.

This is excellent news. For those that don't know, DXC is a merger of HPE and CSC. HPE was the server branch of HP.

This is about as good news as you can get.

This is definitely good news to say the least. I do however take issue as this being touted as "The most significant economic development news in the city's history". If the company was actually moving their corporate headquarters here then it may qualify. At any rate this is good news and hopefully it starts a snowball effect with tech companies wanting to set up shop here.

I think some politician was saying "I wish we got that LNG facility that was $1 billion that went to Corpus Christi". However... that will have 2000 jobs during construction for 5 years then only about 30 jobs long term. It will ruin the environment, etc...

This will have 2000 jobs for a long long time and will increase occupancy rates in the CBD, will increase tax base for the city, and is a clean industry. These are the kinds of jobs New Orleans must get if they are to succeed in the future.
