Hello. I will be visiting New Orleans for 3 nights in early February. We are 2 adults and two kids (8 and 4 years old). We will be staying at a hotel in the French Quarter. What places/activities do you recommend doing with children? I'm also interested in plantation tours and maybe the swamp tours but I am not sure if the swamp tours are a good choice for children.

This will be our first time in New Orleans. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Swamp tours are great for kids! Ive taken third graders on field trips to the swamp many times. However, there are more alligators out when the weather is warm, which is really the highlight of any tour.

Other things to enjoy with kids: aquarium, insectarium (both within walking distance of any FQ hotel), Audubon Zoo, Children's Museum/City Park, and of course a couple Mardi Gras parades if you'll be around on the weekend! You can Google the schedule and attend a parade on the uptown route, most are very family friendly.
