All Things about New Orleans (living in, area, places)

Hi, I´m Thomas from Germany and my request maybe a bit unusual.

I´m doing a Roleplaying Campaign and I´ve chosen New Orleans as the main city for my players to enjoy the campaign.
I have read a few articles about New Orleans, its history and geography but this doesn´t give me a sense for the feel and soul of the city and it´s residents, for hidden and cool places and for stories about the city. I want to bring my players a unique experience. So I wanted to ask you for help and advise, because there is no chance for me visiting New Orleans in years to come.

I have chosen New Orleans for being near to the Bayous and swamps in the gulf, the history of the city and a unique style, which I get mostly from TV shows here in germany.

My campaign is a Noir style world where the shadows are a bit longer, politicians are a bit more crooked and so on.

So here is my request finally.

If somebody is interessted in sharing their experience, living in New Orleans or visiting New Orleans, with me I would be very happy.
If someone from the area could get me an insight of cool places or interessting sights, where my player could get to in their noir stoy, this would help a lot.
I´m interessted in conversation about the topic and I am taking any suggestion.
Also if somebody wants to share a story from New Orleans, even fictional ghost stories or spooky stuff, you are welcome.
If somebody wants to share pictures from places in New Orleans, he thinks are fitting or interessting, I would be gratefull.

In exchange I can trade infos, stories and pictures from the middle of germany.
