Moving to LA from Ft. Worth, Texas in less than a month. One of my favorite pastimes is attending alternative/indie rock concerts throughout the metropolitan area. While I know NOLA respectively centers around celebrating and sharing its jazz culture (which I love), I was wondering if there were any venues that showcased local rock and roll bands for the alternative peeps out there!

In all of the years I've partied in the city, I can't say that I really remember hearing rock coming out of a bar.

I also am the completely wrong demographic for rock bars.

There's a bar in Crowley,La.that has had rock bands. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. Sam's, maybe?

Might have better luck finding some of the bars in New Orleans. I've seen some "local" metal/rock acts in a few. But that's like 20 something years ago. Sheesh I'm showing my age. You might just have to "Google search" in the city areas for more information...

You'll probably have better luck in Baton Rouge.

There's a pretty strong metal scene in New Orleans. Idk about indie rock tho.

I'm more familiar with the metal scene in NOLA and I'm not really sure what qualifies as "indie rock". Would this band fit that category?

Bourbon Street has a minimum of 4 weekend bands that play rock. Albeit classic rock mostly but rock.

Howling Wolf was rocking this night but it was the venue side and not the bar side.

There are a bunch of clubs in Metarie that have rock bands and Twist of Lime seems to be the most popular. If things don't change, they will have From the Grave, Mislead, Nothing Sacred, Dead Machine Theory and Southern Brutality (nice guys) playing on July 25.

Just for future reference...this https://www.offbeat.com/ is a great reference for the New Orleans local music scene.
