You might - or might not - I don't have any idea. But New Orleans does not need another officer with a drug history and a poor temper. Sorry, but that's what it sounds like. There have been too many officers on the take and with anger management problems leading to claims of police brutality for me to want to risk another one. OTOH, I don't do the hiring. Can you pass a psychological screening?

The pweb site provided earlier by another poster says that you cannot apply if you have been convicted of possession or assault. Don't know how they would view your military record.

NOPD had one female officer commit armed robber of a store she frequents killing the store owners not knowing their children were watching through the cooler glass doors. When they called the police, she was one of the responding officers. Some NOPD officers were working for local drug gangs as enforcers and hitmen/hitwomen. Some engage in extortion and bribery. I don't know which is more dangerous, the NOPD or the drug gangs.

I also received a General Under Honorable discharge from the Army in 1997for Misconduct - I've applied with other Agnecies but was not selected. I admit I was young and headstrong and made some mistakes in my youth, I have not been in any trouble since, I'm not crazy, nor do I have drug problem. Do you think that NOPD will hold the time I spent in the military against me?

If anyone can provide me with any information from how hard it is to get in, to the different units (gang, terrorism, homicide, K9....) any information would be
great!!

Read "The Great Deluge" by David Brinkley for a detailed description of what NOLA police did and did not do during Hurricane Katrina. After reading it, find out if anything in the dept has changed before signing on to such a corrupt dept. All the best to you.
