I'm planning another trip to NO for Halloween and was wondering if Cafe Brasil on Frenchmen has closed down - it wasn't open when we were there in March and I'm not seeing anything online about bands playing there. We really likeed hanging out on the corner and listening to the music there and were hoping to bring our friends who've never been to NO before.

Default Cafe Brasil - Marigny Triangle

Hey, I loved Cafe Brasil when I lived in the Marigny Triangle. Haven't been there in a long time. Looks like it's still open: NOLA RISING: CAFE BRASIL! NoLA Rising! It's Yours, Take It!
I remember hearing someone say a while back (after the storm) that they'd closed a portion of it (one of the 2 bars). I hope someone out there has better details on their current status.

However, there are a few cool music venues on Frenchmen besides Brasil. Don't know if they are all open and named the same but: The place across the street - Blue Nile is fun, next block: d.b.a., Apple Barrel, Spotted Cat & the famous Snug Harbor.

Don't forget - weekend before Halloween is the 10th Annual Voodoo Music Fest in City Park. Lots of fun if you like a smorgasbord of music from R.E.M. & Erykah Badu to local brass bands & Morning 40! Home
