No point in talking to your landlord- it's not their fault- and they have no reason to let you out of your lease. Call the police and ask for the crime stats for your area if you really want the lowdown- otherwise talk to your room mate about replacing you. He/she can arrange that with the landlord.

My sister used to live on Constance near there. I didn't think it was that bad. Are there people hanging around outside a lot? What's so bad about it?
