In the NOLA/Metairie area can anyone tell me what a cleaning lady should cost? Do they usually charge by the job or the hour? Any suggestions on the best ways to find one other than asking everyone I know?

Thanks for any help.

You can get the top end by calling Merry Maids or Molly Maids or whoever is in the area. Look in the phone book. I used Merry Maids for some years, in another state, and was very happy. They sent 2 people and were finished quickly. When my regular cleaners were sick/on vacation, they sent someone else. More expensive than hiring an individual but they also brought their own supplies and vacuums so I never had to buy anything.

Need more information. Illegal alien? Cash under the table, or reportable for tax purposes? Bonded and insured company or somebody's friend's brother's aunt? It will make a difference.
