Many report the largest crowds in the French Quarter on Fat Tuesday that have been seen in 25 to 30 years. Businesses, restaurants, and bars across the city are reporting sales 30% higher than last Mardi Gras. Can't speak about other areas, but, word is Metairie had 900,000 and New Orleans had 1.1 million on Fat Tuesday. Haven't heard about the Northshore, the Westbank, River Parishes, or Houma.

Oh yeah, 23 year old falls off float and is run over and killed by the float driven by his father. Float driver causes float to flip and send several riders to the hospital. Driver cited for another dui. Shootings, stabbings, robbery, assault, and other crimes. Yep, great Mardi Gras.

I heard about that guy....wasn't that in Carencro west of Lafayette? That is very sad.

Carencro is within Lafayette Parish, on the northern border of the city of Lafayette. The float that flipped was in Church Point which is northwest of Carencro.

Well aren't we the optimistic one. If you ask me, that type of thing happens every year. In fact most of it happens all year long (with the exception of float disasters, obviously). By deduction then you must believe that there never is a good mardi gras, right?

Besides, the OP was implicitly asking about New Orleans since that is where they were so the float disasters wouldn't enter the equation, would they.

It was a good Mardi Gras until the rash of shootings right at the end. So, up to that point, pretty good. After that, not really.

I stayed in the house on MG. I can skip the random fights over beads and shootings. Good to know that my city is doing well though
