I have memorial day off and would like to visit New Orleans for the first time over that weekend. We are from Austin, TX and would like to drive there. We're 25 and 26 year old females. We're more about seeing the local tourist spots and must visit sites than we are about the checking out the nightlife. Although a beer in a cool place is always nice. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what to do and see? Thanks!

Well i celebrated my birthday there In January! I had a great time walking around!! I flew in from Phila, my ticket was 167 round trip!

Didnt have a lot of money to spend, so my activities were free!! Took their ferry, walked from hostel to downtown, took the trolley, which was fun! Visited their first cemetary, visited some historical buildings downtown, walked miles and miles just taking picture of the interesting homes and some not so interesting, but damaged homes!!

Went eating at the very nice and friendly restaurants!! Great Food!!

have fun and good luck!

p.s. don't walk around at night, except downtown where there are lots of people. If not a lot of people, don't walk!!
