does anyone know of a place here in new orleans louisiana that has therapeutic riding i am a mother of two autistic kids and i'm in desperate need of some reliable therapy.all other therapies were not successful.

You might want to try here. Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center - Horse Riding Stables, New Orleans, La We used to live in NOLA and we have a daughter with disabilities. I must admit that the services are limited in the area to say the least. Good luck!

We used to go to a stable down river, around Myrtle Grove, with our autistic son. Don't know if they still provide these services, and can't recall the name of the group. This was pre-Katrina.

I am trying to find the same type of therapy for my 5 year old son. He is a a great kid , but has a lot of emotional problems, mostly due to a Domestic Violence situation, that we are now free of. & His real father died when he was a baby. He had never met him , but is recently asking many questions about him & is often sad or crying about not having a dad. I feel in my heart, that a combination of the two, are causing him to have these emotional breakdowns & bed wetting. He is to young to have so much sadness in him. He recently went to a birthday party at Equest farms. Usually he is scared of everything, & never wants to even TRY simple things, like ridding the trolly in the city. He had even said before we arrived at the horse farm, that he DID NOT want to ride, just pet them. TO my amazement, he suddenly put on the helmet & was on the horse! He rode for some time , and when he was done he asked if he could come take lessons. I had never seen him so happy & without fear. I had heard how horseback riding helps children with many disabilities. I just felt like , maybe this is something that will help him. The only problem , I am already struggling single mother & it's $40.00 per lesson, & lessons are only 1 hour. There MUST be a place that children with similar problems can come once a week or so, & ride & learn & HEAL! Any one with any information that could help me , help my son, would be greatly appreciated!
