I'm moving to New Orleans in about three weeks and I'd like to know a few things, preferably from people who live there currently:

I have the chance to transfer my job to Harvey in the Westbank. I haven't heard good things about that area, but I would be working at a large store off Manhattan Blvd. I'm not planning on hanging out in that area, just strictly working. If anyone could give me any input on that area, I'd very much appreciate it.

Also, how is the bus transportation in Orleans and Jefferson parishes? I hear they are pretty nice and safe but again I have some fears.

Any comments or suggestions are very much appreciated!

Bus lines in Metairie have not changed. There are few routes and most places, you need a car. Don't know about the west side of the river.

I would suggest not transferring to Harvey. It's not a great area, and transportation is not as good as in New Orleans.
