Where should I begin my search for a weekend rental/sublet. I am coming to town for the 4th of July weekend, and would prefer to rent a home in the Garden District, than stay at a hotel. Any website or agency referrals (that are free, unlike sublet.com)? Thanks!

I have had luck finding vacation rentals in other parts of the country by searching cyberrentals.com and vacationrentals.com On those two sites at the time of this post there were 32 and 25 listings in New Orleans, respectively. That said, it should be noted that the zoning ordinance of the City of New Orleans states "timeshare buildings and transient vacation rentals are prohibited" in residential districts. However, as with many a regulation here it seems that the authorities find it convenient to look the other way.
