Wasn't there a cop movie called something like "The Big Easy"? I remember something w/Dennis Quaid maybe? Can't think of the blonde actress' name.

I looked it up. Title was "The Big Easy", 1987, with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin. It had some nice exteriors shot in N.O.

Hard Target-- Is that the one where he ends up being from Meraux because it is supposed to explain his accent (which in itself was funny)? If it isn't there is one where he is supposed to be from Meraux which of course we killed ourselves laughing because in the scene there were mountains in the background and so we deemed them, "The Mountains of Meraux." Sigh, if only the levees were really that high.

That Ray Charles movie was filmed in and around NOLA. When he's on the bus check out the trees, (the tree tunnel in Meraux), and the industrial plant, (the Murphy refinery), then there's the little village where he grew up, (the Ducros Museum), the jail scene, (the old St. Bernard jail), then there is the Saturn Bar, oh geez the whole movies is chock full of NOLA metro.

Then there is that Lindsay Lohan movie Just My Luck, it's supposed to be NY, but it's really New Orleans metro. The bowling alley is Rock n Bowl, The high rises are really in the CBD, the jail is in St. Bernard, and believe it or not her downtown apartment where she is in the window is actually an old plantation home in Meraux.

There are lots of recent movies with NOLA scenery that people have no idea that it's NOLA. There is even made for TV stuff out there.

Is this the movie with the cheesy uptown car chase where every time the car turns the block it ends up at the beginning of the block it started from?

" The Big Easy " was so riddled with technical errors as to be laughable . All of the New Orleans residents had fake Cajun accents . What a joke .

Don't think it's been mentioned yet - Eve's Bayou is my favorite film for that indescribable mysterious Louisiana atmosphere
