We've decided to bring in the new year in New Orleans and I can't decide whats the best place to stay.

Right now its between the Wyndham and Club La Pension, trying to stay within the RCI resort network so any suggestions?

Maybe those two aren't even the best... we also saw Hotel de la Monnaie and Mardi Gras Manor... I just dern know

honestly, I'm not really familiar with either one, but you might want to check on room availability and pricing first. I think the sugar bowl is on new year's day this year, so you better get a room while you can.

Also where are some good attractions while there?
Like a good jazz bar?
Where to go outside of the french quarter/downtown for New Orleans "flavo"r?
Where are the low lying areas/swampy places?
Where to find the grand old houses?

Ummm, the Garden District, Audubon Zoo, the lakefront for a view of how big the lake is, a swamp tour across the river, a drive through Old Metairie, take the streetcar to Uptown, take a riverboat back down to Canal Street, City Park and the Art Museum, the Botanical Gardens decorated for Christmas, a river trip down to Chalmette battlefield - these are just off the top of my head.
