My brother and dad will be journeying through New Orleans in a couple of days, on the last legs of a cross-country road trip. They have asked me to locate a good New Orleans jazz club for them. My brother is mid-fifties, so not looking for any crowded young pick-up joints.
I know very little about the local venues there, so I thought this might be a good place to start. Thanks for any guidance you can offer.
Oh, I have googled a bit and found Snug Harbor (which sounds wonderful) and Preservation Hall. Hoping to find a "local's favorite", but still stay away from anything too crowded or funky, if that's possible.

Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse is a classy club inside the Royal Sonesta Hotel right on Bourbon Street. Enter through the lobby and follow the great music. It does tend to get crowded, though.
