Does anybody think anything will ever become of these two projects? The traçage site has been fenced off as if site work is being done but you really can't tell if anything is being done. Trump is still the big poster on the wall next the parking lot.

I also have to say that 930 Poydras (the big black building with the crane on top) is coming along much better than I thought it would. The renderings made it look like a borg cube.

I see that the Cancer Center on Claiborne is also coming along. Anybody know the status of the BioInnovation center?

Doesn't look like I will.

Here is a development site I stumbled across though.
DDD: Developments in Progress | Current List of Projects in Development Throughout Downtown New Orleans (http://www.neworleansdowntown.com/site67.php - broken link)

I got a letter from traçage when i was inquiring about it because i actually thought it was already built, they sent me a brochure and a letter stating, the project is on hold but they are confident the will resolve the issues they are facing and get the project done and that right now they are off schedule as the project should have been done last year and nothing has been started yet as of now..
So it looks like they are fighting some type of battle with the city silently, i think the preservationist are trying to keep anything modern looking out of New Orleans so they can have their old style Museum of a city which isn't fair to the citizens living there, they have had a taste of what a city could look like and be like after relocating during katrina and now they want to see something like that in New orleans and the Preservationist and other Historical groups are boycotting and slowing down any of these projects because of old foot steps, bricks, and other stuff they can find to keep things from being built there..
they're aware they are losing their power and i guess they are trying to see how much power they still have, i think the arm wrestling will eventually be won by the Young citizens and they will finally see a 21st century New orleans that can still co-exist with Old Gothic Euro style New Orleans..
I also got a letter from Trump enterprises and i keep up to date with it, They are going to through a similar hurdle, but i think after Mitch Landreiu is voted in the tide of New Development will all flood the city and you'll finally see alot of the tied up development getting done and cranes getting into the city like it should have.
The new VA Medical facility was just approved for the half Billion and construction is now scheduled to start at the end of this year, they will be clearing that entire area in a few months, they are going through the process right now of going house to house to give people notices and estimates on their home to give them their homes worth and notice that it will be leveled..
Charity will most likely be salvaged in this process, im happy about because a lot of developers and companies were basically waiting for this to start up or an indication that it will get done before they put their own investments into the city, you can't have hundreds/thousands of rooms of condo's and no Major Hospital anywhere near the city.
Plus thats 1.9 Billion that will be getting dumped into the local economy, thats attractive to any developer..
Tons of Miami Developers are looking at New Orleans now as well to start projects, i hope it all comes together this year, this was suppose to be the year the city was suppose to have tons of projects going all at once and some completed, but The current City leaders didn't' work hard enough or at all to get much done, kinda sad we can't see it yet.

That site doesn't appear to have anything up to date, it still has Roosevelt still in pre-construction stage, that Hotel has been open all last year.
Several others on there that has inaccurate info..

Well, at least they plan to get something done in eventually. I pass the site everyday and have been wondering when something was going to actually be done. They've had the posters and fencing around the lot for a while so you can't see what's on the other side. The preservationalist have become really only a problem in the Quarter. The WWII muesum is right across from the traçage site and it's nowhere near historical. Most of the new things that have come up in the last year and a half have been modern construction in historical areas.

I've kind of given up on Trump and Saturday hasn't gotten here yet.

^This is Louisiana Politics through and through. At this point no one is sure how this will turn out. LSU doesn't even have half of the money needed to build a new money. Me personally I preferred the compromise alternative with the VA in lower Mid-City, but this is Louisiana we're dealing with.

-River Garden mid/high rised
-Bioinnovation Center has broken ground.
-Louisiana Cancer Center has topped out.
-Muses has topped out.
-Plaza tower is under construction.
-Royal Cosmopolitan may or may not get started.
-Saenger is under construction
-Columbia Parc is almost done.
-Second Line Stages is finished.
-The Saratoga and The Maritime is funded
-Dominion is almost back in service and the New Orleans Centre is about to be redeveloped.
-Federal City is underway
-New School construction is in swing.
-Library reconstruction is moving ahead.
-927 Poeyfarre is finished.
-Aiport is being reconstructed.
-Reinventing the Crescent starts soon.

There is a lot of other stuff going on too that I couldn't name off the top of my head.

It'll have a lot less to do with the Saints winning and more to do with the Leadership change..
The Mitch Administration will seem like a breath of Fresh air to developers, businesses, corporations, the feds, and local government.

A lot of people didn't want Mitch because of the long regime of family political history, but i tell ya, there wasn't much for picking out of the bunch.. i think the closes was James Perry and he's more of "friend" type of guy than a leader, the city needed to hit the Gas peddle and hit the ground running with all of the New Projects and money about to flow into the city.
James should be brought into Mitch's administration though, i think he'll be great and get himself some experience because i think next time he run or 8 years from now he'll win with flying colors.

The Saints winning helps a ton as well because now the words "NEW- Orleans" is becoming a house-hold name again, and in a good way, The city and it's team are a feel good story right now, Businesses are energized by anything that has an energy around it right now, New Orleans is beaming, people are feeling good, that could mean it's now an attractive city to be a part of because people will "WANT" to come there and work and New Orleans could be one of those cities that actually attract instead of retract people.

I have just moved to New Orleans after graduating college. I found a good job with a bank down here. I have several friends who are in my age group 22-25 who have had enough of these preservationist holding this city down! Does anyone know how to find out who these people are? They seem to work in the shadows we need to get names and find out where the meet, work, and live so we can protest!!! I am saving to buy a home before the end of the year and would love to have more condos to choose from so that the prices would be more competitive. I just do not understand why we cannot build around the historic buildings or why we can't build a new building in place of a grafiti filled abandoned warehouse.

Sorry for the spelling on a phone.
